Ideally, the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New
Delhi is probably the most convenient arrival airport in terms of global
connectivity; direct flights from any major city are available. From New
Delhi to Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun would be a 30-minute road trip from
the city of Rishikesh. That would be ideal because Dehradun airport is the
closest to Rishikesh and permits quicker and smoother transfer to the
destination.
But if this is your first visit to India and you don't mind a less tiring
trip, then flying straight to Dehradun is just what you might be looking
for. Dehradun is the city closest with an airport to Rishikesh and there are
always domestic flights from New Delhi to Dehradun. Moving forward to Jolly
Grant Airport, located in Dehradun, you will realize that it takes a short
and smooth 30 minutes by car ride to Rishikesh. Thus, not needing to travel
long distances saves you the stress and your arrival would indeed be better
relaxed and smoother, with you being able to start with yoga journey in
tranquil surroundings of Rishikesh without much stress.
Therefore, if you prefer the most hassle-free and quickest travel, flying
into Dehradun is a good recommendation. However, in case one wants to
explore India more before reaching Rishikesh, flying into New Delhi would
give one the flexibility and options to travel.
How do I get to Rishikesh from Delhi and how
much does it cost?
Rishikesh is 6 hours car journey from Delhi airport. We
can offer you a transportation package US$150 that includes airport pick-up,
transfer to Rishikesh, and return after the course. A one way transfer from
Delhi to Rishikesh is possible for US$ 75. In case you reach in a late-night
flight, we can arrange the airport pick-up for US$ 25 and a comfortable
hotel stay for US$ 40–50. If that doesn't happen, you might take the
train-it's a good option and transfer by car from the airport to the train
station. Buses are cheaper but are not preferable for those going there for
the first time.
How safe is travelling solo in Rishikesh?
Yes. Rishikesh is relatively safe for a lone traveler. Thousands of tourists
visit the city solo every year. The serene ambiance, spiritual energies, and
friendly people make it a very popular destination for yoga, meditation, or
some spiritual experience. The town has an infrastructure well developed
with many accommodations, cafes, and yoga centers making it really easy to
travel around and feel at home.
However, if this trip to India is your first, then using local buses or
trains may be a bit of an adventure as they would be much different than
those used elsewhere in the world. Always try to use private transport
options or book transfer services well in advance to make your trip easier.
Be careful as you would in any new place, watchful of your environment, and
carry your valuables with you safely. All in all, Rishikesh still is a
rather safe and pretty friendly destination for solo travelers.
Do you make traveling arrangements for me when I
reach India?
We will be also happy to assist you in all travel plans when you arrive in
India. Provided we get prior notice, we will make all necessary arrangements
for pickup from the airport, bus, and train station to bring you all the way
to Rishikesh. We will ensure a smooth ride without any hitch to our school.
When you arrive in Rishikesh, we will clearly guide you on a short walk. Our
doors will always be open for you to pass through comfortably, without a
hassle, and make your journey pleasant. You are free to reach us in case of
any query with respect to traveling.

at any given time, you would turn to this purified water to keep you
comfortable and healthy while engaging in yoga practices with personal
growth.
Can we use phones at the school?

be present and attentive during your practice, but outside the classroom,
you are more than welcome to call your families and friends when you need to
reach out. Just remember you and others would appreciate a peaceful
distraction-free environment for the course.

bills, and we can arrange to have them installed in your room if you wish to
do so in advance for us to arrange them for you as well. Comfortable stay
options are incorporated into our rooms, with AC to ensure a cool, pleasant
air during warmer months. Don't hesitate to contact us for further
information regarding the supplementary costs as well as booking the

Health & Security
I'm taking medications. I'll be able to get it
in India?
Yes, you will most likely be able to find what you need in the way of
prescribed medications in India. There are many pharmacies and hospitals
similar to what you would find in Western countries. Brand names of
medications will obviously vary, but the active ingredients and formulations
will be quite similar. Of course, if you take specific medications,
consider taking a prescription along for getting the right medications. If
you are having trouble finding a certain medication, we can help locate
pharmacies or healthcare providers. Always check with your physician before
traveling.
What if I get sick during my course?
If you fall ill or are injured while undertaking your course, we will see to
it that you receive the right kind of attention. Should you want to go to a
western-style hospital or need some other form of treatment, we can arrange
for the same, as needed. And, for sure, your health and well-being are
at a premium for us, and we'll ensure supporting you in the right treatment.
And we will find alternative arrangements or make sure you get caught up on
any classes you have missed so that you have no stress in completing the
course. Recovery always comes first.
Are there any vaccinations needed by this
destination/place prior to traveling to Rishikesh?
No vaccinations are required to enter Rishikesh. We would still always
advise going and ensuring you're all set with routine ones like tetanus or
Hepatitis A, but there is no requirement in terms of vaccination. We'd
also tell you to carry mosquito repellents, lotions, or any personal hygiene
items that make you feel comfortable. Take proper precautions from the sun
and insects during your visit. The better you prepare, the smoother and
healthier your time is going to be in Rishikesh.
Do I have to fear Malaria in Rishikesh?
You can say that Rishikesh is one of the low-risk places where the disease
is concerned. The real incidence of the disease is not very common in this
region, so you need not be much worried about it. And though it's good
practice to take precautions generally, the use of mosquitoes repellents,
Malaria as a threat to travelers coming to Rishikesh is rare. No special
vaccination is required in relation to malaria, however we do advise taking
some general precautions especially during evening hours when mosquitoes are
most active.
Will I have to watch what I eat in India?
Food in India can be fascinating, but it seems a little off-colored overall.
If you are not particularly fond of your stomach working overtime, you will
want to take some extra precautions. The school makes sure to go out of its
way by hiring full-time cooks who only serve the freshest ingredients.
Good hotels in Rishikesh have safe food. However, if you are a first time
visitor to India, then I would advice you to avoid street foods since you
can never know the hygiene standards followed by street food.
About The Course
How many students attend the
classes/courses?
Under the tutelage of Anagha Yoga School, we focus on an intimate
learning experience as we allow only 15 to 20 students in each course.
Owning to this, our teachers can pay individual attention to each student
and thus ensure that every one is properly guided for their personal growth
and practice. We would like to give our students an environment that
will be so intimate and focused that they may go further in their knowledge
of yoga, get corrections, and feel comfortable on their own journey of
learning.
What is the dress code for yoga
class?
White clothes are suggested as that is considered comfortable and calming
clothes. It has been our way of maintaining serenity in practice. In any
case, black-colored clothes should not be worn as they might disrupt the
calmness of energy in that space. So, put on clothing in a modest,
breathable, flexible outfit that will enable you to feel free and
comfortable in your asanas and meditation: it's about comfort and respect
for the yogic environment; otherwise, you will not fully be able to
participate.
Do I need to bring my own yoga
mat?
And now, on to another important point: you don't have to come with your
yoga mat because Anagha Yoga School gives a brand-new one to each
student. Because of this, comfort and hygiene in practice are guaranteed for
every student thanks to the top-of-the-line mats allocated to everyone.
On the other hand, you may bring your own mats if you like-it's up to you,
by the way. That's what we are striving for: to make everything as
comfortable and accessible to you as possible.
I am pregnant. Can I take the
course?
Unfortunately, during pregnancy one cannot fulfill the course in an entirely
safe way as pregnant women are not usually recommended to practice the
intensity and depth that is involved during the course. Therefore, we advise
you to consult your healthcare provider before making a decision. We
really recommend taking the course after the pregnancy for safety from both
aspects- yours and the baby's. If you still have questions or concerns or
you want to know more about the alternatives, please let us know.
May I skip a class if I like?
In case of emergency, you can take an emergency day off. You are supposed to
let the instructor know ahead of time if you are taking a class for an
emergency. We understand that sometimes something may come up in your life
outside of your control, and we simply want to make sure you're marked
absent so that anyone knows. Still, we very much urge students to be
present in all classes in order to be able to reap all the benefits of the
program. If you do miss something, the instructor will be there to help get
you up to speed.
Can a partner join the same
course with me?
Yes, that is definitely possible; you and your mate can come for the same
course. We welcome couples in our programs and share that experience with
them. But please let us know in advance so we can make the required
adjustments to accommodate both of you. In this way we can ensure that your
needs are met and you both can enjoy the school together.

before?
Do not worry; our courses are easy, and we cater to every level of practice.

scratch, from the entire package from basic to more advanced techniques.
No prerequisite exists because our trainers will train you, step by step, to
provide you with comfort and confidence in the duration of the course. It
can be accessible and beneficial for you, both if you're a beginner or have
some experience.

related field such as Philosophy. Each teacher is committed to quality
instruction that combines the traditional teachings with modern

enriching experience on your yoga journey.
Will language be a problem since
English is not my native tongue?
No, because the students attending courses here are from all parts of the
world, and for most of the students, it is the second language. The courses
are so set that they will find it easy to understand; our teachers are also
very accustomed to teaching and guiding students who understand less or more
of the language. They will make sure that you understand the teachings
fully and provide any extra support that you may require. International
atmosphere is helpful to make all students feel welcomed in academic
studies.
Have to read some books?
Yes, there are a few books that you'll need to read during your course. You
may start reading them before you arrive or wait until you are at the
school-you decide. It is meant to harmonize your learning process and give
you a deeper insight into the nature of your course, but you can start at
your own pace based on personal preference.
How early should I arrive and
then leave?
It would be really fantastic if you came at least one day prior to the
course date so that you can attend our orientation programme. The class will
start on the very first day at 10:30 am with a yoga ritual. The graduation
